Sephora VIB Sale 2015

This is the first year that I have had VIB status at Sephora, and I was so excited to pick up a few things that I needed (and some that I didn't)! I've had a bit of a chance to try most of the products so I thought I would tell you my thoughts on them!

Benefit Gimme Brow (Medium/Deep): This has been a go to product for me for about a year and I needed a new one! I love how easy it is to apply and how the tint fills in  your brows naturally while holding them in place! Great for a low maintenance makeup look!

Nars Pro-Prime Smudge Proof Eyeshadow Base: I've mentioned this product before, but I cannot get over how wonderful it is! Eyeshadow usually creases on my eyelids, but with this stuff I am crease free all day! It also feels really nice on the skin, and blends out so easily!

Benefit Hello Flawless Powder (Honey): I wanted a setting powder that was buildable enough to wear as foundation on days when I wanted to wear less makeup. I have been so impressed with this product! It sets makeup really well and also builds up on its own to make my skin look evened out and smooth! I've been loving it!

YSL Le Teint Touche Eclat Foundation (B40 Beige): I had this foundation put on in store (along with the benefit powder) and it looked so good! It is supposed to be illuminating and natural, and from what I remember it was! I have yet to try it out at home, but I can't wait! Look out for a review soon!

Urban Decay Revolution High-Colour Lipgloss (Bittersweet): This was a 100 point perk that I redeemed, and although I was sceptical of the colour I've really fallen in love with this gloss! It can be worn more sheer or built up for a more richly pigmented look, both of which I love! The formula is SO SO comfortable and it wears off evenly leaving a beautiful berry stain on the lips. It has quickly become a favourite!

What did you pick up at the sale? Let me know in the comments! Thanks for stopping by!

Kate Spade Newbury Lane Loden Bag

Kate Spade recently had a surprise 75% off sale, and I took the chance to purchase a nice medium sized bag as I have been wanting one for a while. The Newbury Lane Loden caught my eye and I decided that it was the one for me! Kate Spade is a pretty pricey brand, but I was able to get the bag far a really great deal and I am so pleased with it!

I love that it is cross-hatched leather, as it feels more sturdy and durable. It also came with an adjustable crossbody strap, which a was a huge bonus.

The sides of this bag have snaps, so you can have it as big or small as you want. Also I love to gold hardware! I think it is so classic!

The storage in the bag is on a whole other level. There is a zip pocket and two pouches on the inside, and then two large zip compartments on each side of the bag. The main compartment is so roomy, and I have found myself using it as a school bag as it is the perfect size for notebooks! I was a little wary of having the main compartment open as it only has a snap closure, but I actually really love how easy it makes to grab my stuff!

I also make a cheeky earring purchase during the sale and am so glad I did! With sensitive ears, it is hard to find nice, inexpensive jewelry that wont irritate my ears. These were such a steal, and since they are gold plated they are comfortable for me to wear! I can't wait to bust them out for the upcoming holiday season.

Although these items are no longer on the Kate Spade website they do have a smaller version of the Newbury Lane Loden for sale here and a similar pair of earrings for sale here. Sign up for their newsletter so you can get alerts for their surprise sales and get 15% off your next purchase!

I hope you enjoyed this post! Thanks for stopping by!!

Rimmel: Brow This Way Brow Sculpting Kit

Last month I was searching through my local Walmart for a brow kit and came upon the Rimmel Brow This Way Brow Sculpting Kit. I thought after almost two months of use I would give a little review!

Packaging: I love how compact this product is! The kit fits in the palm of my hand and come with a little spoolie and a double ended brow brush (one side stiffer and one side soft), that fit in the kit. They are great quality and are the perfect size, so you don't have to go purchase extra tools to apply the product!

Product: The kit comes with 1.1g of brow wax and 1.3g of brow powder. The wax is soft and creamy with warmer undertones and the brow powder is really finely milled with more of an ashy undertone. Both are super easy to apply and very bendable. The products seem to last really long even on my oily skin! I never have to worry about smudging throughout the day!

I got my Brow Kit in the shade 001 Blonde. My brows are quite dark and have pretty great shape naturally with only a couple sparse areas in the front of my brows, so this colour is perfect for filling them in as I don't need lots of added colour. This product is also available in the shades Mid Brown and Dark Brown.

I am seriously in love with this product! It is so effortless to use, looks great, and is a great value ($8.00)! I know Rimmel also has a brow gel to go along with this kit and I'm itching to try that out!

Thanks for stopping by!

Travel Tips: All Inclusive Vacations

At the beginning of  August I went on an all inclusive vacation with my boyfriend's family to Mexico, and I read lot of blog posts to help me prepare. I thought I would make one of my own now to give my tips on how to make going on vacation easier!

Packing:

  • Instead of folding or rolling my clothes I lay them in my suitcase flat, only folding in half when needed. I helps wrinkly fabrics stay smooth and I was able to fit all my clothes for the week in one side of my suitcase (and I don't pack lightly!).

  • If you are packing a hat, stuff it with some clothes to prevent it from being squished!

  • I would highly suggest keeping in mind how comfortable your shoes are when packing them. I found that no matter the shoe I was wearing, I was walking quite a bit in them as our resort was very spread out.

  • Pack a beach bag! You are going to need something to put your stuff in while at the beach or the pool, so make sure it'll fit all your essentials!

  • Bring more than one bottle of sunscreen. Sunscreen is super expensive at resorts and the last thing you want is to spend your souvenir money on sunscreen.

  • Make sure you bring an after sun cream that you know you like! My favourite is made by Vichy, and you can read my blog post on it here! Just like sunscreen, it costs a fortune at the gifts shops and is a must have to soothe your skin after a long day in the sun.

  • Always put liquids and creams in ziploc bags! Your brand new bikini will thank you when it isn't covered in your exploded sunscreen.

  • If you use razors with cartridges, bring your razor handle and some unopened cartridges to avoid slicing your fingers on the blades when digging through your bag!

  • Make sure you bring water shoes. This is a must if you are going to any adventure park. We went to XPLOR and it was so fun, but there were so many activities like cave swimming and zip-lining that flip flops didn't work for. It was so much easier to wear water shoes that I was able to walk in, swim in, and I knew wouldn't fall off! Also if you do any snorkelling and you haven't brought your own snorkel set with flippers (I highly suggest bringing these!) you'll probably want water shoes for swimming around the coral and sharp rocks.

  • As I just mentioned, bringing your own snorkel gear is a great idea! Most places offer rentals, but for sanitary reasons I think it's nice to have your own! Mine cost $50.00 at Walmart and came with flippers, goggles, the mouthpiece, and a carrying bag that fit everything quite compactly. Watching the fish underwater is so much fun and I'm glad I was able to enjoy that experience on my vacation.

  • This one is strictly for the ladies. I don't care if you are supposed to get a visit from Aunt Flo or not, make sure you pack enough feminine products for one period. I swear every time I go on vacation, me or someone else ends up using them. Also throw a few into your carry on!

Carry On Luggage and In Flight Tips:

  • I like to use a backpack as my carry on! There are lots of compartments to keep you organized, instead of throwing all your stuff into a bottomless abyss. Most backpacks also fit under the seat, so you don't have to put it in the overhead compartment. It's also easier to carry, and it comes in handy when you go to adventure parks! You could also use it as your beach bag!

  • Put all the important airport papers in an easy to access place, so you can grab them quickly!

  • Even if you don't have a connecting flight, I always think it's a good idea to pack a bathing suit, a couple pairs of underwear and one or two outfit options in your carry on! If you lose your luggage you'll have enough to last a day. Its also easier to grab at when you get to your destination, making getting out to the beach that much easier!

  • I love to bring a pair of fuzzy socks and a scarf or shall that can double as a blanket, because planes are always cold. Also, wear your bulky items on your flight to save space and weight in your checked bags.

  • Bring something for you to do during the flight! A book, a journal, an iPad to watch movies! Flights can get so boring if you don't have something to pass the time!

  • There are a few essentials that I think are good to have on the plane with you! Gum (so your ears don't pop during take off and landing), kleenex, hand sanitizer, headphones, a pen (to fill out the customs form), and lip chap! Also remember to bring any medications you'll need in your carry on!

Money and other important things:

  • Travel insurance (or just medical). I say if you can afford to buy it extending a couple days past your arrival date back home you should. Its always good just for peace of mind in case you are delayed a couple days getting home (it happened to me!). Also remember that most medical insurance policies will only work if you call to let them know of any injuries etc., BEFORE you are checked into a hospital.

  • Remember that there are airport fees and some airlines charge extra for checked baggage!

  • Get a passport wallet that can fit your boarding pass, passport, money, cards, and a pen (for that pesky customs form). It zips up and keeps everything important all together and safe. I would also suggest bringing a small wallet to carry your cash and room card around during your vacation. I used Lug's Tango Travel Wallet and Fossil's Sydney Gusseted Key Case.

  • As far as money goes, small currency is what you need. Especially if you are going all inclusive. You will need more small currency than anything at your resort to tip the staff. Even when shopping I found that little shops had a harder time giving change for large bills. However, if you do end up with lots of large bills the bartenders are usually more than happy to exchange it for smaller ones, just don't forget to tip them for it!

While on Vacation:

  • Have a plan, but don't feel the need to stick to it. Just have an idea of what you want to do while you are there, so that you don't get home and realize you hadn't experienced half of what you wanted to!

  • Learn your resort. No, you don't have to attend the orientation presentation most resorts have (usually they are just trying to get more money out of you). Just take the first morning to walk around, explore and take pictures! Make sure you figure out times for daily events and activities and when specific restaurants, pools, and beaches are open.

  • If you can, get off the resort! There are so many fun things to do and experience. Go shopping, go to an adventure park, or spend an afternoon at a local beach! Part of going on vacation is experiencing the culture and the best way to do that is to get out!

  • Turn your phone on airplane mode to avoid roaming charges when you aren't using it!

  • When applying your sunscreen don't forget your face, ears, neck, feet, hands, and butt. Those suckers will hurt in the morning if you do.

  • Unpack your clothes! Every room usually has a closet and drawers, so you can hide your suitcase, and get it out of the way. Unpacking also lets your clothes air out and makes it easier and less messy to choose your outfit! Also, put your important electronics and documents in the safe if one is provided!

  • And last but not least, HAVE FUN! Vacation is about enjoying yourself, so sit back, relax, and take it all in before its gone!

If you are looking for a fun place to go in Mexico, we had a fantastic time at the Occidental Grand Xcaret Resort located near Playa Del Carmen! That staff was so friendly and the resort was connected to the Xcaret Park which was so fun! There were Mayan ruins, putting greens, multiple pools, paths through the jungle, a beautiful beach, and fantastic snorkelling! I would highly recommend checking it out!

If you have any tips for going on vacation, leave them in the comments! I hope that you have a fantastic day and if you are going on vacation, I hope you have a fun and safe trip!

Vichy SOS Sunburn Care Balm: #1 After Sun

This summer I've been low on inspiration for posts, but today I was looking around my room for some products that might be worth mentioning. And luckily my eyes stumbled on my favourite after sun!

It is so important to wear sunscreen before you go outside, but also to take care of your skin once you go inside. The Vichy Capital Ideal Soleil After Sun - SOS Sunburn Care Balm is hands down the best product I have found to use after I have been out in the sun all day and I may have caught a few too many rays. Although my skin doesn't burn that badly, I will always be a bit red after being outside all day. This product is a must have for soothing those areas as well as protecting and healing my skin.

Bikini is from Aerie!

This product has prevented my burns from peeling (to an extent), and has sped up the recovery process so my skin looks tanned faster! When I went to Mexico in July 2013 this product saved my skin! I forgot to put on sunscreen in the morning and within two hours my shoulders were burnt to a crisp! Although this product was not able to prevent peeling completely, my skin only started peeling a few days later. It also made the redness fade and soothed the skin so I wasn't itchy.

The SOS Balm is made with Willowherb extract to soothe the burn and Bioavailable Lipids to target and restore altered cellular membranes (in other words, it heals your skin so it continues to protect you!) It is paraben-free, preservative-free, hypoallergenic, non-comedogenic, non-greasy, and non-sticky. It has a thick creamy/balmy texture that is absorbed into the skin quickly and has a cooling sensation to soothe those burns! And as a bonus, the scent is light, non-offensive, and doesn't seem to linger! It is marketed as a balm used for specific sunburn care with instant soothing action, and safe for sensitive skin. It comes in a 100ml squeeze tube at the price of $26.00 at Shoppers Drug Mart in Canada. I use this product all over my body and face, and have never had a bad reaction from it! This product does not have SPF in it, so in addition to using this always remember to wear sunscreen and your skin will stay happy!

I have loved using this product and have repurchased it because it truly lives up to 100% of its claims no matter your skin type! I know that during every summer and vacation I enjoy, this product will be along for the ride! I'd love to hear what your favourite summer skin care products are! Have a fantastic day!

Dior Addict Lip Glow: Holy Grail Lip Product

For the past year and a half I have been using my Dior Addict Lip Glow religiously. It's what lives in my bag and is my go to lip colour when I want a no fuss lippy! It is made with Mango Butter to nourish and soothe the lips and Loofah Extract to moisturize and heal them. It is very hydrating and gives me the most beautiful wash of colour that fades throughout the day evenly and lasts a long time! It has a balmy texture and smells like chocolate and mint. I love that I can put it on without a mirror and not worry that it has gone everywhere!  It truly is a "my lips but better" product, as it  gradually enhances the natural colour of your lips with "revive technology", making it the perfect pink to pair with any makeup (or no makeup) look! Not only is it hydrating and leaves my lips looking plump and pink, it has SPF 10 to protect them! It's an all in one type of product!

I should also mention that the packaging is quite beautiful and well made! I've dropped mine more times than I can count, and it still looks brand new!

On top are the before shots and below is around 5 minutes after application. The colour change is not as visible as it is in person, but you can still see how it has enhanced the colour of my lips! It usually gets a little bit darker than this, as it takes a while for the colour to fully develop.

5 minutes after application on my wrist

I am almost out of mine and I will definitely be purchasing another as soon as I run out! It has a hefty price tag at $37.00 here in Canada, but I think it is worth every penny! I noticed there was also a coral version of this product which I would love to get my hands on, as I love coral lips for the Spring and Summer. I hope you enjoyed this post! Tell me your holy grail lip product in the comments below! Have a great day!

Over the past month I've been buying some new things for Spring. And since the Sephora VIB sale was last month, I used that as an opportunity to restock on some skincare items that I needed. I love this face cream, and my current one is almost out! It is the perfect lightweight consistency for my combo/oily skin. I love it!

First Aid Beauty Skin Rescue Deep Cleanser With Red Clay

$30.00 at Sephora
This cleanser is gentle and clarifying, I've purchased two in the past and although my current one isn't out yet, I bought an extra for when I do run out!

I love the sensitive brush heads for my Clarisonic! They clean my skin so well, I don’t think I can ever go back to using just my hands!

$8.00 at Shoppers Drug Mart
This spring I've been trying to go longer between washes and when my hair looks oily this stuff gets the job done!

Jergens Natural Glow Daily Moisturizer - Medium to Tan

$5.00 at Walmart

Covergirl Ready, Set Gorgeous Fresh Complexion Oil Free Foundation - 120 Nude Beige

$6.00 at Walmart
I ran out of foundation, and since I've heard so many good things about this one I wanted to try it out. It looks so natural on my skin and lasts a really long time!

I wanted a sheer nude lippy for spring and this one looks great!

L’Oréal Infallible Lacquer Liner 24H - 171 Blackest Black

This eye shadow has been plastered all over the internet for ages and I wanted to see what all the hype was about! The colour is so pigmented and it makes my eyes pop! It is easy to apply and blend out as well. If you like shimmery eye shadow I would highly recommend this!

Naturally Glamorous Grad Makeup

My little sister, Jordyn graduated from High School this past weekend, and for her big day I helped her do her makeup. Normally she doesn't wear a lot of makeup, so we tried to keep it natural while still looking glamorous and done up! She looked stunning and we both loved how it turned out, so I thought that I would share it with you as Prom/Grad season is starting up! Also, I thought I should mention that we took these photos after 12 hours of wearing the makeup and it still looked incredible, so you can count on the products we used to last all day!

Then I worked Naked (matte mid toned brown) from Urban Decay's Naked Palette into her crease and blended it up as a transition shade. I used Too Faced Chocolate Soleil Bronzer (matte warm chocolate brown) to deepen her crease and then placed a little bit of Rain (matte cool toned brown) from Stila's In The Know Palette in the outer half of her crease. I used Rain again on the whole outer third of her lid and blended. Then I took Sin (shimmery champagne) from the Naked Palette and placed that all over the inner half of her lid. To blend Sin and Rain together, I used Toasted from the Naked Palette. To deepen the outer lid, I blended a bit more of Rain into the Outer lid and into the crease. On the Outer-V I used Smog (shimmery golden brown) from the Naked Palette to add some warmth and then blended Haute Chocolate (shimmery dark purple-brown) on top. As a browbone highlight I used the Hourglass Ambient Lighting Powder in Incandescent Light from the Ambient Lighting Palette.

Put That Stress Away

Now, I'm probably the last person who should give advice on how to survive the last month of school, because let's be honest I'm a basket case now more than ever, but I thought I'd share a few tips on how I manage to survive the dreaded stress that comes with finals. The worst part about the last month of school is the wind down. All of your assignments are suddenly due, you have to start picking next year's classes, apply for scholarships, find a summer job (actually you should have started that about two months ago, trust me), and all at the same time.
Even though all these responsibilities are overwhelming there are some things that help me come out the other end sane. And the best part is that they work in any time if stress, not just during finals!
1. Take time every day to relax. Now I know that I take too much time to relax on a daily basis, but during those really busy days, it is so important to take a moment to breathe. It gives you a moment to recharge so you can continue with your busy day. Whether it means watching Netflix, working out, reading your bible, praying, having a nap, or having coffee with a friend, do it.
2. Pamper yourself. Now this goes along with number 1, but I think it deserves its own point. It's proven that when you make and effort to feel/look good you are naturally inclined to perform better on tests and in general be more productive. That being said I think you should also treat yourself. Use rewards to motivate you to accomplish tasks on your to do list. So go take a shower, do your hair and makeup, put on a cute and comfy outfit (or whatever makes you feel good), and when you get something done, go buy that venti Starbucks and take a bath. You deserve it.
3. Make a list. Write down everything you need to get done and cross it off as you go! Not only does it help you remember what you need to do, but there is nothing more satisfying than seeing all your tasks crossed off your list!
4. Accountability. Tell someone what you have to do. Just the knowledge that someone else knows what you have to get done can motivate you to do it.
5. Set a deadline. Most assignments already have a due date, but not everything in life comes with one. Give yourself a deadline for each task so you aren't overwhelmed and have to finish everything all at once! Also set alarms and reminders on your phone, that'll help you stay on schedule!
6. DON'T IGNORE YOUR FRIENDS AND FAMILY. Yeah sure, that assignment may be worth 50% of your mark and you need a summer job to pay for school next year, but that isn't all what life is about. In a few years you won't remember this stuff anyway, so remember not to neglect the people in your life who are supporting you through it. Plus, it's more fun to celebrate your accomplishments with others! Just remember that there are people who love you regardless of your GPA. (But also, don't use that as an excuse to give up, you'll just end up disappointing yourself. Bummer)

7. Go outside. This one is hard for me. I usually lock myself away in my room and don't go outside unless it's absolutely necessary. But some fresh air and a change of scenery can really help clear my mind. And lets be honest, the view outside is usually way prettier than the one on your computer screen!

Remember, in addition to all of these things, actually doing what needs to be done helps a ton! So take what I've told you with a grain of salt and find what works for you! Leave a comment telling me ways you've found that help you survive stressful seasons! Thanks for reading (and if you're in school, good luck with finals)!

Bite Beauty: Lush Fruit Lip Gloss

Thanks to Sephora's Black Friday sale, I was sucked into buying this mini lip gloss trio from Bite Beauty. I've seen some other beauty Bloggers and YouTuber's mention these products, but I thought I would do a little review of my own.

First of all, these Lip Glosses are made with real fruit oils, which makes them taste and smell super yummy.

Packaging: To me, packaging isn't a huge deal in what makes or breaks a product, but I do have to say that I really like the simple and classic glass tube with a matte black top. The applicator is also really nice as it is a curved doe foot, making it form to your lips a bit more than the classic doe foot applicator.

                                       Currant

Currant, Strawberry, Rambutan

Formula: The formula of these lip glosses is thick (in a good way!) and sticky, and they are described to be highly pigmented. The colour Currant goes on evenly, but I found that on my lips not much colour appeared. It was more of a "my lips but better" kind of gloss. Strawberry and Rambutan were both very pigmented, but I found them to go on less smoothly and that they needed to be built up to get even colour pay-off on my lips. They also settled into the lines on my lips more than Currant did. You can tell from the swatches below the difference in consistency and application on my lips between the colours. Another plus for the formula is that these glosses last a long time, and are not drying!

 Currant (Sheer Plum)

Strawberry (Sheer Carnation Pink)

Rambutan (Peachy Nude)

Currant, Strawberry, Rambutan

I think the colours are beautiful, and that they are very true to their descriptions. Currant would have to be my favourite out of the three simply due to its smooth application, however that will not stop me from wearing the other two, because I still think that they look beautiful when I take my time to apply them. They just aren't a gloss that I could slap on without a mirror. Overall, I think that any of these glosses would be a great pick for those of you who don't mind sticky formulas!

All of these colours (and more) are available in full size at Sephora! Let me know what you think of these glosses in the comments below!
